Everything was black and white and quiet.

This past Saturday, my sister and I went to see our first silent film at the Music Box theater in Chicago. We thought we were going to be late, but we found our seats right as the curtains were opening and the film started rolling. There was a live organ player, which really added to the feeling of a real 1920s movie. The film was called Pandora's Box and Louise Brooks was the main character, Lulu. The film is German and it was released in 1928.I swear, I was about to cry as the film started, because I really felt like I was in the past and, well, I certainly love everything from the past. The film overall was amazing and exciting! The costumes, of course, were divine and flowing and graceful and overall amazing. While I was watching this and definitely immersed in it, I began to believe that the world and everything around me really was like a black-and-white silent film, and somehow, I accepted that.
Lulu will ultimately have a mark on my wardrobe...I love her makeup and  hairstyle(though I could never get my hair like this). The 1920s was a time of freedom and women in this time, in my opinion, dressed in some of the most unique and beautiful clothing. Hopefully, there will be a flapper post (if I can get my hair to comply)...

Here are a few looks that remind me of the female look in Pandora's Box

  1. I love the roaring twenties! and I like the photoshoots that try to recreate their style. Silent films may not be my thing, but they're definitely so interesting how they convey a very unique mood through its medium where there's very few words (which appear on the screen to read).
