Summer's Almost Gone...

I've officially started school and can I say, never has it been more difficult. The anxiety of seeing crushes whom you embarrassed yourself in front of, SATs, AP classes and being in a building filled with the sickly-sweet smell of teenage angst is slowly getting to my head. However, I am surviving! Here are some of my outfits from the past week:

My style changes dramatically throughout the week! I find it fun and entertaining to have a different theme everyday; it makes the whole day better when I have an outfit that I enjoy and feel comfortable in. ...But it can be quite difficult walking from the basement of my school to the 4th floor in tall platforms. As they say, fashion is sometimes pain and there is a sacrifice involved sometimes to wear something other than jeans and a t-shirt. Here's some of my overall fall inspiration:

Japanese Street Fashion

It's extremely hard to imitate the street style you see in Japan and no other country has style like the kind you see in Harajuku and Shibuya. Dressed to kill everyday that they go out, many street style icons, such as Juria and Ikeda Hirari, are idolized and often become famous because of their personal style. Seeing the creative fashion of Japan was one of the first things that triggered my love for fashion and I often try to incorporate some of the things I see on Tokyo streets into my outfits.

I think just looking at the different styles of people on the streets of Tokyo is an adventure. My dream(since I want to live in Japan) is to able to mingle with these people, share style tips and just...have their level of awesomeness. For a while now, I've had a list of stores I want to visit in Tokyo. Most of them are resale shops, such as The Virgin Mary and Panama Boy. The resale shops are (like many things in Japan) unlike anything seen anywhere else in the world. Shopping is truly an adventure when you shop there.

Japan's fashion is just another reason to make me love the country dearly. It's so inspiring, because Japanese fashion goes by no rules nor set ideas. Everyday, trends on the streets of Tokyo are changing, and new ones replace old ones, making the city a forever interesting place. x

Just a bit of chilly weather inspiration. Finals are finally over for me! I hope that means I can blog more...but for now, excuse me while I burrow myself somewhere and read. x

I want to wear mini-dresses and go on adventures, too.

The first time I saw Moonrise Kingdom, I was downtown with my sister. We had both been waiting  to see this movie for weeks and when we were finally seated in the movie theater, we couldn't contain out girlish laughter and wholehearted excitement(who can?). I had never seen a Wes Anderson film before and this was the best impression I could ever have. Five minutes in, the movie had captured me with it's era and overall amazing-ness. Do you know that feeling you sometimes get when you see a really good movie and you can't stop thinking about it, even when you're trying to go to sleep? This movie was all about that. After seeing it once, I saw it two more times, once with a friend and once by myself, because I wanted to experience the beauty of this film just by myself for a change. Immediately after my first time seeing of this film, I bought the soundtrack and listened to it for days, my heart aching because I know it's probably too late for me to have an adventure like this. My two favorite tracks on the soundtrack are probably Cuckoo and Le Temps de l'Amour by Françoise Hardy. Especially the latter; it makes me want to dance with my eyes closed and sip peach juice, or something else fanciful like that. 

The costumes are another thing that caught my eye along with everything else in this film. I've always been interested in clothing from different eras and it's not often that movies set in the past hit theaters(especially an amazingly filmed one like this). The '60s for me is made up of the stereotypical things: go-go boots, eccentric mini-dresses and big hair. The thing I love about Moonrise Kingdom is that it showed none of that. This shows how it was to really live in this era, in a small, normala( yet not normal)town away from the fads of the time. I love this film so much, and somehow, seeing it three times isn't enough. I miss it terribly.
